Privacy Policy

BakLater is designed as a local-first recommendation inbox. You can use the app without creating an account, and saved recommendations are stored on your device by default.
Information You Provide
You may save titles, links, notes, tags, source context, ratings, reflections, and recommendation details.
Optional Account and Sync
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, BakLater receives the account identifier for that provider and may receive your email address and display name depending on what the provider supplies. Apple and Google identities are kept separate unless you explicitly link them in BakLater. When signed in, BakLater stores a copy of your saved items on BakLater servers so your data can be backed up and synced across your devices. You can sign out at any time. Deleting your BakLater account removes the server-side account and cloud copy of your saved items; local items remain on your device unless you delete local data in the app.
Friends and Family
Friends and Family is optional, private, and invitation-only. BakLater does not provide public profile search or a public activity feed. A connection requires a 24-hour invitation and recipient approval; anyone who receives the link may use it before it expires. New records are visible only to you, and making a new connection does not share existing records automatically. If you explicitly share a record with Friends and Family, accepted connections in that audience may see its title, type, status, rating, reflection, spoiler label, and completion date. Removing or blocking a connection ends that access. BakLater stores connection requests, accepted connections, blocks, and abuse reports to operate and protect this feature. A report preserves a snapshot of the reported content so it can be reviewed; BakLater may hide content that violates the Terms.
Optional Enrichment
If Auto-fill item details is enabled, BakLater may send saved item titles, notes, selected type, links, and an anonymous install ID to BakLater servers to suggest factual details such as year, author, creator, source links, and tags, and to prevent abuse. Saving still works locally if enrichment is unavailable or disabled.
Clipboard, Location, Voice, and AI
Future optional features such as clipboard prompts, location reminders, voice capture, and screenshot processing should only run after you choose to use or enable them. BakLater should not silently collect clipboard or location data.
Third-Party Metadata
BakLater may contact metadata providers through BakLater servers to find posters, descriptions, ratings, restaurant details, streaming availability, and related links. Requests for movie and TV availability may include the saved title, item type, release year, and your country or region. API keys are kept server-side. Streaming availability is provided by Streaming Availability API by Movie of the Night.
YouTube Trailer Playback
When you choose to play an embedded trailer on a supported device, BakLater uses the YouTube API Services and the official YouTube player. The player connects directly to Google and YouTube, which may receive information such as your IP address, device and application details, cookies or similar identifiers, and playback interactions. BakLater does not request or store your YouTube credentials or YouTube viewing history. YouTube playback is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. You can review or revoke connected-account access through Google security settings.
Feedback
If you send feedback from the app, BakLater receives your message, selected category, app version details, anonymous install ID, and any contact information you choose to provide.
Data Export and Deletion
The app includes data export, local deletion, and account deletion controls. See Delete Your Account for the in-app and web request paths and a complete description of deleted data. For support, email [email protected].
